Tell us about yourself…
I am Sophie, mama to two children, Olive and Louie. I live and work on beautiful Bundjalung country in the Northern Rivers. I also grew up here so it has been a beautiful few last years also raising my kids here with a similar nature filled upbringing I had. I spend a lot of time at home with my kids, as well as juggling working so it can get quite busy. Other than parenting, my main job is as a teacher. I enjoy spending time by the beach, or on our family
farm. I also spend a lot of time doing the washing too (if you're after some real talk!).

What does beauty mean to you?
Just feeling fresh, well rested and content with oneself and above all good digestion!
Filtered water is essential, sunshine and getting in the ocean as much as possible make me feel beautiful.

Have you got any cool bee facts?
There are so many interesting bee facts, they are such complex creatures. Recently, I have been chatting lots to my daughter, Olive about bees as she is so interested at this age (4 years old) so the conversations are very simple but awe inspiring. One thing we have been discussing is how incredible it is that a bee so small, can go to a beautiful, colourful flower and then create this beautiful nectar we call honey, nature is really magic!

What brings you joy?
I love creating, beading, ceramics, painting and reading. Currently I am reading two books which I highly recommend. One is called Braiding Sweetgrass, an amazing book looking into the indigenous stories of plants. The other one is; Women, Men and the Whole Damn Thing, which is all about the #metoo movement and how we got to this point and gender
inequality throughout history.
I love living simply, spending time down at our favourite beach Broken Head with my family and being at home (I am a bit of a home body!). I also love going op shopping and see what bargain’s I can find. If I like something I write it
down on my notes in my phone and hope it turns up. This happened the other day, I found an Akubra hat in my exact size for $5.00.

Favourite meal to cook for others?
My husband does all the cooking, but I am the baker in the family. I like to make healthy chocolate cakes, decorated with flowers, chocolate chip cookies and ANZAC cookies. I love sharing this over a pot of tea or a hot cacao.
