STUDIUM MUSE: THEA LØVSTAD

Tell us a bit about yourself...
I am a Norwegian, London based eco artist and photographer with a focus on sustainability driven clients. In my spare time I love making pottery (a hobby I recently pursued), swimming in the sea when the temperature allows it, decorating at home and travelling with loved ones.

Cats or dogs?

Dogs, every day please, preferably a whole bunch at once!

Star sign?

Cancer

Favourite song of all time?

Oh dear, what an impossible question to answer..  I suppose the fact that I never get tired of Porcelain by Moby must mean it is an all time favourite? Or should I perhaps mention my guilty pleasure instead, a song that can brighten up any grey day with its cheesy 80s beats: Take On Me by AHA.

What does beauty mean to you?

Beauty to me means being healthy and happy and taking care of yourself, both physically and mentally. And being kind to others. It all shines through.

Favourite beauty tool &/ or product?

At the moment I am obsessed with Epsom salt baths and face massaging tools.

Self care tips or tricks...

- Wake up 15 minutes earlier than usual and enjoy candle lit breakfasts every morning, I promise your day will feel ten times better. Candles create such ambience and a relaxed vibe, I burn them all day long, especially during the darker and colder months.

- Invest in a diffuser and burn essential lavender oil before going to bed, it has such a lush smell and lavender has a calming effect. Drink a herbal night time tisane on top and you'll fall asleep like a baby.

- Face massage! No need to purchase any fancy, expensive jade roller or gua sha if you're on a budget, just use your hands and a good moisturiser or oil and it will do the trick. There are plenty of tutorials online showing how to go about it. Your face feels fab afterwards and it even provides firmness and glow to your skin.

-A dip in the sea or a walk in the forest, spend time in nature! Even in so called bad weather. We have a saying in Norwegian “There is no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothes” which basically means that you should spend time outdoors no matter what. Is it freezing? Well then just put on more layers of clothes. Fresh, crisp air and some movement is great for your blood circulation and we all know how important that daily vitamin D is for the mood too.
- Good, old sleep

What things bring you joy?
Food! Art, nature, animals, friends and family, travelling, music, architecture, analogue photography (non ascending order)

Favourite meal to cook for others

Parmigiana or Bacalao accompanied with a glass of Italian red wine

Favourite meal to have cooked for you

Anything homemade and meat free is superb.

Best advice you’ve ever received?

  1. Be kind and polite to every person you encounter, you never know what they are going through.
  2. Remember to breathe! So many people, including myself, tend to not breathe properly (with the stomach)

Where can we find more of your work?

Soon I'm also launching a collaboration with a British female artist, related to the environment and feminism, keep an eye out on social media! Really excited to finally show what we have been working on.
